At the weekend Rich and I headed over to one of my favourite places to drink coffee. One, to take some much needed photos of me for this blog, and two, so we could drink coffee and eat cake. Obviously.
Baila Coffee & Vinyl is one of the few coffee shops in Swindon that allow dogs and if you’re a Mamma, you can also take advantage of the childrens play area upstairs (I can only assume dogs aren’t allowed in the play area with the children?!), which by the way, has just recently had a makeover. You get to drink coffee and your child gets to let off some steam– perfection.
Anyway, we didn’t actually take our dog, as I wanted– or rather needed, my man’s FULL attention if we were going to be able to recreate the profile images I had in my head. Let’s just all bear in mind this particular man is NOT a photographer, although I once asked him to hold my camera and he took a selfie, which resulted in someone commenting on his Instagram account, saying how much they loved his work. One selfie and someone ‘loves his work’. It’s taken me years to get anyone to appreciate my photography!
Rich had never been here before so I don’t think he was expecting the place to be quite as ‘cool’ as it was. Normally I love a nice little country cafe and I often drag him along with me in hope that he will feel the same as I do about tea in floral teapots and victoria sponge cake, but I don’t think he quite gets it. Do any men ‘get it’ for that matter?
Baila Coffee and Vinyl on the other hand, is very much not your traditional coffee shop. It actually doubles up as a licensed bar in the evenings– YES. What I love most about this place is the extremely relaxed atmosphere and decor and the fact that they make videos like THIS
I know right? Awesome.
The vibe here is super chilled but most importantly for me, it is quite dimly light inside which is the main reason I chose to shoot here. This is odd behaviour for a photographer, as we generally like to shoot with as much light as possible, but I wanted my blog’s appearance to be completely different to that of my photography websites.
I’ve spent the last 6 years as a photographer so I knew exactly how I wanted my profile images for this website to look. I also wanted to drink good coffee and eat a delicious brownie at the same time so, you know, this place kind of sprung to mind.
Enjoy mine and Rich’s images and make sure you go visit this place real soon.
