So I’m kinda a little bit late with this post because my blog is actually just over a year old now but it’s better late than never right?!
I first started this blog with the intention of only writing very personal posts; posts about my deepest darkest thoughts and life issues, about wanting more and not being satisfied. But as time went on, it felt like my life transitioned to a place where I was a lot more settled and happier and so the content kinda changed along with it.
Having 2 businesses means I do struggle to blog on a regular basis and sometimes I do just want to write about the gym, or show off some new outfits I bought, even though I never thought I would want to do that on my little space on the internet. I like the fact I can mix it up a bit and keep things lighthearted and fun. I also love to bring you along on little weekend trips away and I know lots of you love these kind of posts.
I had one goal in mind when I set up this blog: to have one of my posts featured on another well-known blog and not just any well-known blog, I actually had a few in mind. Yes and Yes was one of the first blogs I started reading back in 2015 and in my opinion, it really is one of the most interesting blogs out there. Last month I was reading the true story section and had the idea of sending my own true story to Sarah to see if she wanted to feature it.
My post about living in the shed was one of my most read blog posts and lots of people commented on social media about how cute the shed was and how much they enjoyed reading about it. So I sent it along and crossed all my fingers and toes and waited eagerly for Sarah to reply.
Some of the true stories featured on Yes and Yes are literally amazing so I didn’t actually think mine would be accepted but a few days later Sarah replied with a big yes along with some interview questions for me to crack on with. I’m still so excited that my story is going to be on one of my favourite blogs and i realised the other day that if nothing else, I achieved the one thing I set out to do a year ago. The feature will be going live in January.
Blogging is hard. I know, it sounds ridiculous doesn’t it but it really is. It can be time-consuming and nerve-wracking to share your thoughts with the internet but for some reason I just really love it. I love getting creative with my writing and I’ve managed to write certain posts which seem to move people in a way I never thought possible. This post in particular was a huge success and a number of people contacted me privately to say they felt exactly the same. And this is what keeps me coming back to my blog. There are times when work gets in the way and I really don’t have time to write anything personal or I think that I’m wasting my time writing crap that no one cares about and I question whether I should even bother. But I do actually have a handful of people who come back each time I post and that makes me really happy. Also, even if no one read anything on my blog, I still love sharing content and that should always be the most important thing.
This year has been a bit of shitter in terms of what’s been going on in the world and I’m pretty sure the majority of the population will be happy to see the back of 2016. But for me personally this year has been a bit of a life changer. If you’ve followed my blog for a while you will have read about my relationship and my need to have life plans and some sort of direction and at the start of the year, I had none of this. I felt like nothing was right and my life wasn’t heading in the direction I wanted it to. Then we went on holiday to Portugal and basically everything changed.
I do not know what it was about the holiday, maybe it was the way I look in my bikini, who knows! But here we are, happier than ever and making actual plans for the future. Plans to buy a house and start a family. And man I’m ready to burst with happiness. Thank you 2016, thank you.
So yeah I’m pretty pumped for 2017. There’s a lot happening if I’m honest, starting with another colonoscopy at the end of January but hey, I need stuff to write about and what better topic to discuss than that eh? Bet you all can’t wait for that one. I’ll also be writing for the UK wedding blog B.LOVED. My topic being health and wellness which is a bit ironic given my current health situation but I cannot wait.
So thank you to everyone who has stuck with me in 2016, I know I’m a moany bitch sometimes but I really was lost for a while back there.
Bring it on 2017!
